CARE_X
The CARE_X project is an initiative implemented in the Municipality of Xanthi as part of the European CLIMAAX program. CLIMAAX is the flagship project of the European Mission for Adaptation to Climate Change, which aims to strengthen the resilience of regions by improving risk and emergency management plans at regional and local government level.
Objective of the CARE_X project
CARE_X focuses on assessing the risks and resilience of the Municipality of Xanthi to climate change. It aims to implement the CLIMAAX methodological framework and tools to conduct a comprehensive multi-risk assessment at the local level. This process includes analyzing risks from phenomena such as floods, droughts, heatwaves, and other extreme weather conditions, with the aim of developing adaptation strategies and strengthening the resilience of the local community.
Strategy and Methodology
The project follows the CLIMAAX methodological framework, which includes:
Credit Risk Assessment (CRA): Analysis of climate risks and their impact on the region.
CLIMAAX toolbox: Platform providing access to data, models, and services to support risk assessment.
Adaptation Strategies: Development and implementation of strategies to enhance resilience to climate change.
The implementation of these tools and strategies is expected to contribute to improving risk management and strengthening the Municipality of Xanthi's capacity to respond to the challenges of climate change.
Expected Results
The following results are expected from the CARE_X project:
Comprehensive Risk Assessment: Understanding the climate risks faced by the Municipality of Xanthi.
Development of Adaptation Strategies: Planning of actions to strengthen resilience against climate change.
Strengthening Risk Management Capabilities: Improvement of processes and infrastructure for effective risk management.
